Senior citizens after 60 years now got something to cheer about. Golden Era club, exclusive gathering of senior expatriates in Kuwait formed to provide memorable time for the grand pa’s and grand ma’s! A group of seniors, most of them are above 60 years of age gathered at Rumaithiya to form an exclusive Golden Era club - the brain child of Sabiha Bilgrami.
In a fun filled atmosphere, large number of senior citizens from all walks of life gathered to share their joys and to begin the life! Golden Era club with a motto of “Life Sizzles at 60” was officially inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp by Mrs. Tehmina Q. Merchant, who still believe that life had just begun only. “This exclusive club is dedicated to the celebration of the Golden Years by providing a platform for seniors to meet, interact, befriend other seniors and continue with their education, entertainment and enjoyment” said Sabihya Bilgrami who presided the whole function.“Golden Era club” is aimed to provide a fresh life to the senior citizens who are otherwise lonely in their own world. “When we are out with our children for any public programs, we feel alone since all around us are youngsters”, said one of the attendee. This provides a good platform for them at this age to meet people of their age, make new friends and make a real difference to their lives in some small way. The program begins with a fun filled self introductory session lead by vibrant youngsters Crawford D’Souza and Anil Lobo who feels it’s a blessing to give such an opportunity for the seniors. In second part of the program, volunteers from Art of Living explained the importance of self discipline by giving proper care to our body organs. Smt Indira Radhakrishnan and Priya Srikumar demonstrated breathing techniques which was well accepted by the seniors. Light snacks were provided for the participants.
